Seagrasses of the World

Contributing to seagrass taxonomy worldwide

Welcome to Seagrasses of the World

Seagrasses comprise several groups of aquatic plants that have evolved to survive in fully marine conditions. Seagrasses have evolved mutiple times from several independent lineages, but they all provide key habitat, food, and shelter for a variety of organisms, including manatees, sea turtles, and several economically important fish and invertebrates.
